What is mediation?

Mediation (or as it is sometimes called, conciliation) is the most effective form of Alternate Dispute Resolution, or ADR. Along with arbitration, ADR offers an alternative to the expensive, long-drawn-out Indian legal process and looks to resolve conflicts in the most collaborative, efficient way possible. Although Mediation does not replace traditional adjudication, it is:

Mediation is defined by the presence of a neutral third party, a Mediator, who uses specialized communication skills and negotiation techniques, helping disputing parties bridge their differences and find a mutually acceptable solution to the dispute.

In India, parties can go to the High Court and other public fora for mediation, or they can opt for Resolveā€™s method of private mediation.
